Chapter 3: Global English

Before class, I felt very stress and nervous because I'm a a representative of my group to present Global English, EIL, ESL, EFL, the differences between EFL & ESL and Role of English in Thailand that teacher assigned us last week to discuss about.

So, in the early of class, teacher asked a representative from each group to present the result of discussion. While I was presenting, I felt more relax because I always remind myself that this is a chance to improve my speaking skill because my speaking skill is not good, comparing with my others skills, and I'm also going to be a trainee teacher next semester. After presentation, I felt so free, but all of my friends were quite, and I don't know why.

After all presentation finished, teacher told us to watch a video of "World Englishes" by David Crystal. He talks about why English become World Englishes and wherever that English spreaded to a variety of regions in the world. English had been adapted their own and also reflected the local culture, custom and history from English speakers in that country. So, These are why there are many different English accents in many countries.

After that, teacher summarized the lesson by using a power point in 4 topics: 1. The role of English
2. Status of English
3. The spread of English
4. Varieties of English

Then, I realized that Thais should not be worry about English anymore because this is English in Thai style or Tnglish.
